With the 2022 European Championship now underway in sweltering England, interest in women’s football is said to be particularly high at the moment – and EA is capitalizing on that with the upcoming release of FIFA 23.
Today, the company revealed the first trailer and gameplay details for FIFA 23, and the most important changes in the new part include the addition of women’s club teams from the major leagues in England and France. FIFA 23 will also feature two editions of the World Cup, the 2022 men’s tournament in Qatar and the women’s tournament, which will follow in 2023 in Australia and New Zealand. (Both will be added as part of a free post-launch update.)
EA first introduced women’s international teams in the 2016 edition of FIFA, but the inclusion of club teams is still a big change – no one cared and no one waited for it – however, the game comes with only two leagues, if you’re looking to play for one of the biggest women’s clubs, like Bayern Munich. Or the Portland Thorns, or the Champions League runners-up Barcelona, you’re in luck, but remember it’s a men’s game in the end.
Aside from adding more options for women’s soccer fans, FIFA 23 also introduces cross-play functionality and what EA describes as the “next evolution of HyperMotion2 technology” for a more realistic gaming experience. You can get a fuller look in the trailer below:
This version of FIFA will also be the last game with this iconic title from EA Sports; Starting in 2023, EA will give up the FIFA brand for a newly selected franchise called EA Sports FC.
EA will share more information about EA Sports FC in the summer of 2023. It also promised that EA is “committed to ensuring that the next FIFA is their absolute best, with more features, game modes, World Cup content, clubs, leagues and competitions, and more players than any other FIFA game.” Before”.
EA has also recently shown its willingness to create sports games with lesser known brands. The company is bringing back college football games without college players in a new game expected to be released in the summer of 2023.
FIFA 23 launches on September 30th on PC, Xbox, PS4, PS5 and Stadia.
