With useful new features in Messages, new search technology in Mail, and an updated design in Spotlight, Ventura brings many more features and adds more to the ways customers use their Macs.”

A new way to work between apps and windows

Stage Manager automatically organizes open applications and windows so users can focus on their work while still being able to see everything at a single glance. The current window that users are working on is clearly visible in the middle, while other open windows are shown on the left side so that users can easily move between tasks. Users can also group windows together when working on specific tasks or projects that require different applications. The Stage Manager interface works in concert with other macOS windows tools, including Mission Control and Spaces, allowing users to now easily access the desktop with a single click.

Apple devices work in harmony with Continuity features

Continuity Camera  now gives Mac users the ability to use their iPhone as a webcam, and lets you take advantage of new capabilities that couldn’t be used on a webcam before. With the power of Continuity, your Mac can automatically recognize and use the iPhone’s camera when it’s nearby—without having to wake it up or select it—and your iPhone can connect to your Mac wirelessly for greater flexibility. 3 The Continuity Camera brings innovative features to all Mac computers including Center Stage, Portrait mode and the new Studio Light — an effect that beautifully illuminates the user’s face when the backlight is dimmed. In addition, Continuity Camera takes advantage of the iPhone’s Ultra Wide camera to enable Desk View, which simultaneously displays the user’s face and an overhead image of the office—a good feature for creating videos without professional assistance, viewing drawings via FaceTime, and more. 4

Now FaceTime’s Handoff feature allows users to make a FaceTime call on an Apple device and then seamlessly transfer it to another nearby Apple device. Users may have a call on their iPhone or iPad, transfer it to their Mac with just a click, and start a call on their Mac and transfer it to their iPhone or iPad when they want to continue that call on the go.

Powerful updates to key macOS apps and features

Safari delivers the fastest, most power-efficient browsing experience on your Mac, along with leading privacy features. In macOS Ventura, Safari introduces a powerful new way for users to browse together: With shared Tab Groups, friends, family, and colleagues can share their favorite sites in Safari and see which tabs others are viewing right away. Users can create a list of bookmarks on a shared start page, as well as start a conversation in Messages or a FaceTime call right from Safari, which is a great way to plan a trip or research a project.

In the biggest improvement to searches in years, the Mail app uses the latest technology to deliver more relevant, more accurate and complete search results. Users can now find what they’re looking for just by clicking on Search, including recent emails, contacts, photos, and more. That’s before they start writing. Users can also schedule emails and even undeliver them after hitting send, 5 and Mail now intelligently detects if items such as an attachment or a copy recipient are missing from their messages. In the Mail app, users can set reminders to go back to a message at a specific time and date, and they can receive automatic suggestions to follow up on an email if there’s no response.

And now, the Messages app on Mac includes the ability to edit a recently sent message, undo it, save it as an unread message, or even recover accidentally deleted messages. 6  New collaboration features make working with others quick and seamless. Now, when a user shares a file in the Messages app using the share page or drag and drop, they can choose to share a copy or collaborate, and when they choose to collaborate, all the people in the thread will be added automatically, And when someone edits the shared document, activity updates appear at the top of the thread. Users can also join SharePlay sessions from their Mac directly in Messages, so they can chat and participate in synchronized experiences.

Spotlight includes an updated design that makes it easier to navigate, new features that deliver a more consistent experience across Apple devices, and Quick Preview for quick files, so users can now find photos in their photo library across the system and on the web. They can even search for their photos by location, people, scenes, or items, and Live Text lets them search by text within the photos. And for greater productivity, users can now take some actions from Spotlight, such as running the timer, creating a new document, or running a shortcut. Spotlight now has good results for artists, movies, actors, TV shows, as well as business and sports.

With iCloud Shared Photo Library, users can now create and share a separate photo library with up to six family members, so everyone can enjoy all their family photos. Users can choose to share all of their existing photos from their personal libraries, or share them based on the start date or the people in the photos. To help keep their shared library up-to-date, users will receive smart suggestions for sharing relevant Photo Moments that include Photo Library participants and any others they choose. Each user in the Shared Photo Library can add, delete, edit or add the shared photos and videos to favourites, which will appear in each user’s Memories and Featured Photos so that everyone can relive more whole family moments.

Safer browsing on Safari

Browsing in Safari is made safer with Passkeys, a new generation of login credentials that are safer and easier to use, designed to replace passwords. Passkeys are unique digital keys that remain on the device and are never stored on a web server, so hackers cannot leak them or trick users into sharing them. Passkeys make it easy to sign in securely with Touch ID or Face ID for biometric verification, and iCloud Keychain syncs across Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple TV with end-to-end encryption. They’ll also work across apps and the web, and users can even sign into websites or apps on non-Apple devices with their iPhone.

Immersive gaming experiences

The power of the Apple Silicon chip enables all new Macs to run premium games with ease, including upcoming titles like GRID Legends from Electronic Arts and Resident Evil Village by Capcom. And since an Apple silicon chip also powers the iPad, game developers can make leading AAA games available to even more users, like Hello Games’ No Man’s Sky, which will be available on both Mac and iPad later this year.

Metal 3 is the latest version of the software that empowers Apple’s cross-platform gaming experience, brings new features that take gaming on your Mac even further, and unlocks Apple’s silicon chip for years to come. MetalFX Upscaling enables developers to quickly render complex scenes using frames that require less performance power and then apply resolution expansion and buffer anti-aliasing, resulting in faster performance that provides gamers with a more responsive experience and stunning graphics. Game developers can also take advantage of a new, fast resource loading API that reduces waiting time by providing a direct path from storage to the GPU so games can easily access the high-quality textures and textures needed to create vast worlds for realistic and immersive gameplay .
