The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) , which builds sustainable ecosystems for cloud-native software, and The Linux Foundation , the nonprofit organization that enables mass innovation through open source, have announced the new Prometheus Certified exam. Associate (PCA).

The PCA is a pre-professional certification designed for application engineers or developers with a special interest in observability and monitoring within the Prometheus ecosystem.

According to CNCF’s Cloud Native Survey 2021, Prometheus usage in production has reached 65%, an increase of 43% year over year.

Prometheus was the moment project to join CNCF in 2016 and the second project to graduate in 2018, only after Kubernetes. «

The PCA exam will allow developers to illustrate their proficiency in the Prometheus ecosystem and cloud-native observability concepts.”

The PCA will consist of a multiple-choice online certification exam that will test entry-level skills and knowledge around best practices for cloud-native application and infrastructure monitoring and the ability to improve application performance through of the observability data.

Successful candidates will be able to recognize when something is wrong with an application, monitor and gain performance insights, debug problems, and feed data into other systems, including QA, security, and automation systems.

The existing training course “Monitoring Systems and Services with Prometheus” may be useful for those who are new to Prometheus.

“There is a continuing shortage of talent in the cloud space, and the only way to address it is to receive more people trained and certified in these emerging technologies,” said Clyde Seepersad, SVP, and general manager of training and certification at the Linux Foundation. . «

The exam is being developed in collaboration with Certiverse.

More information about the exam and the topics it will cover is available on the Linux Foundation site .
