Samsung announced today that it has begun integrating Samsung Pass into Samsung Pay.
The integration begins in South Korea, where their digital passes, cards and smart locks will be automatically transferred from Pass to Pay. Other regions are expected to follow suit soon.
Samsung Pay is actually an internal payment system that allows you to store credit cards, debit cards, and some membership cards. Everyone in South Korea with a Samsung device running at least Android 9 will receive an update to their Samsung Pay app.
The new mega app will also have support for some travel tickets and movies, including Korean Air and Megabox.
The reason for this merger is a “more convenient experience,” according to Jenny Han, Vice President of Digital Life Team, MX Divison at Samsung. The ecosystem will continue to expand to include not only payments but also home services, cars, public transportation, and cultural life.
